General Tariff Provisions
FRS Fähre “Loreley”
§ 1 - General Provisions
These General Tariff Conditions (hereinafter also “GTC”) apply to all regular transport services provided by FRS Fähre Loreley GmbH (hereinafter also “Carrier”) and – where indicated – to special trips operated by the Carrier. Upon conclusion of the contract, the GTC become part of the transport contract; the passenger acknowledges them as binding.
§ 2 Tickets
- Tickets are transferable until the start of the journey, unless they concern special trips (§ 5) or promotional offers (§ 6). If tickets bear a specific date, they are valid only for the transport indicated for that date. Tickets may only be booked at the transport fares valid at the time of booking in accordance with § 8 GTC.
- Tickets for single journeys entitle the holder to one trip between the departure and destination ports stated on the ticket.
- Separate tickets are available for motorized and non-motorized vehicles and bicycles. These are subject to specific prices. The different ticket types can be found on our website. Vehicle tickets are valid only for the vehicle for which they were purchased and in connection with the corresponding vehicle registration certificate, which must be presented to the Carrier upon request.
§ 3 Discounts
- Children under four years of age are carried free of charge on regular ferry services. Children aged 4 to 14 inclusive receive a discount on the transport fare.
- Any fare reductions are granted only upon prior application. The eligibility for the fare reduction must be proven by suitable documentation.
- If false information is provided in an application for a fare reduction, or if changes in the relevant circumstances are not immediately reported to the Carrier before the journey, the passenger loses, for one year – calculated from the date of the unauthorized use of the discount – the right to claim any fare reductions for future transport.
§ 4 Promotional and Additional Offers and Campaigns
- In addition to the tickets and discounts mentioned above, special promotional prices and cooperation offers with third parties may be available. These are published within the transport fare information.
- Additional offers must be booked prior to the journey. Cancellations due to operational requirements are possible even at short notice. In such cases, the corresponding fees will be refunded.
§ 5 Special Trips
- Special trips are all trips within the meaning of § 11 of the ABB. Separate provisions and fares apply to them. These can be found in the respective offer and in our ABB.
§ 6 Increased Fare
- Under the conditions of § 5 ABB, the Carrier reserves the right to demand payment of an increased fare from the passenger.
§ 7 Transport Fares
- The transport fares are determined separately from these tariff conditions. They are published on the Carrier’s website and in timetables, or can be obtained from the Carrier’s offices.
- Tickets may only be purchased at the fares valid at the time of booking. A subsequent rebooking to, for example, promotional prices is not possible.
- A rebooking from regular tickets to discounted tickets is only possible before the start of the journey.
- Price adjustments due to general increases in fuel costs remain reserved. If more than four months have elapsed between the conclusion of the transport contract and the start of the journey, the Carrier is entitled to adjust the transport fare to the extent that price factors related to the transport – such as port fees, wages and salaries, fuel, interest rates, exchange rates, etc. – over which the Carrier has no control, have changed in the meantime. The passenger will be informed of the fare increase without delay. Upon request, the Carrier will provide a transparent breakdown of the price increase.
§ 8 Use of the KeyCard for Account Customers
- The KeyCard is a personalized, contactless NFC card that account customers can use to pay for ferry crossings. The KeyCard can be issued and used in both physical and digital form.
- The KeyCard is issued exclusively to account customers. The card is non-transferable and may only be used by the authorized person. Use is effected by contactless scanning at the Carrier’s cash systems.
- All trips made using the KeyCard will be charged to the customer’s account. Billing is carried out in accordance with the agreed payment terms of the customer contract. Any incorrect bookings must be reported within 7 days after the invoice date.
- In the event of loss or theft of the KeyCard, the customer is obliged to report this immediately. The Carrier is not liable for unauthorized use prior to the blocking of the card. A replacement card can be issued for a processing fee of €5.00.
- The use of the KeyCard may be terminated in writing at any time by either the account customer or the Carrier. After termination, the KeyCard will be deactivated and may no longer be used.
- The issuing company is solely responsible for the issuance, management, and use of the issued cards. The Carrier assumes no liability for the loss, damage, or misuse of the cards after they have been handed over to the company, unless the damage is due to intentional or grossly negligent behavior on the part of the Carrier. Any further liability is excluded. Your company itself is responsible for the issuance, use, and management of the cards. The Carrier assumes no liability for lost, damaged, or misused cards.
- Lost cards can be blocked by telephone during regular business hours. Please inform us immediately so that we can respond quickly.
§ 9 Additional Provisions for Annual and Semi-Annual Passes
- A prerequisite for the purchase of an annual pass is the granting of a direct debit authorization for the ferry operation or payment by invoice. The customer undertakes to ensure sufficient funds are available. If the debit cannot be made on time, any resulting costs (return debit fees, default interest) are to be borne by the customer. The customer may revoke the direct debit authorization in writing at any time.
- Orders for annual passes must be submitted no later than 15 December of the previous year.
- Annual passes are valid for one calendar year; student annual passes are valid from 01.08. to 31.07. of the following year; graduate passes are valid from 01.08. to 31.03. of the following year. Semi-annual passes are valid either from 01.01. to 30.06. or from 01.07. to 31.12.
- Any partial refund of an annual or semi-annual pass that has been used only partially and returned is a goodwill gesture and does not establish a legal claim. After the expiry of the validity period, a refund is excluded. Any refund will only be made upon return of the ticket. The refund amount will be transferred.
- The amount of the proportional refund is calculated as follows: Jaka price – (Moka price according to tariff × number of months since the start of validity) = refund amount.
Jaka price: price of the annual or semi-annual pass.
Moka price: price of a monthly pass of the corresponding type.
Number of months since start of validity: number of months since the start of validity including the month of return. - Replacement for an annual pass will only be issued upon submission of a written loss report by the holder and payment of a processing fee of €5.00.
- Student annual passes are issued only for the route between place of residence and school.
- During ticket inspection, in addition to the ticket, a photo ID must be presented upon request to verify the data provided.
§ 10 Additional Provisions for Prepaid Cards
- Prepaid cards are accepted only by the Carrier. Prepaid cards are cards that entitle the holder exclusively to purchase single tickets. The purchase of season tickets, other discounted tickets (e.g. for groups), and special tickets is excluded.
- The amount of money paid corresponds to a credit on the prepaid card. Credits are not paid out in cash. The credit balance does not accrue interest. The Carrier is not liable for the credit balance on the card in case of loss, theft, or damage that prevents the credit balance from being determined. Prepaid cards must be protected from mechanical, thermal, and magnetic influences. Do not place prepaid cards in the immediate vicinity of mobile phones. Problems with card readability can only be resolved if the card and proof of card use are presented.
